Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

The PACE Mobility Group aims to support decision-makers, community partners, industry partners, planners, citizens, researchers and more with creating safe and inclusive opportunities for mobility in one’s community. Our goal is to support our network of partners by providing apolitical and evidence-based solutions that will transform our cities into healthy, active, clean, age-friendly, barrier-free, and inclusive places for all residents to move and thrive.

    Dr. Shilpa DograDr. Shilpa Dogra is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences in Kinesiology, and is a Research Excellence Chair in Disrupting Human Mobility. Her expertise is in age-friendly and inclusive active living environments, active transportation, micromobilities, and sedentary behaviour.

  • Dr. Daniel Hoornweg

    Dr. Daniel HoornwegDr. Daniel Hoornweg is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. Dan researches and advocates for sustainable communities; his expertise is in energy and material flows of cities and ways we can transition toward more sustainable urban systems.

  • Dr Meghann Lloyd

    Dr Meghann LloydDr Meghann Lloyd is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences Kinesiology program and a Senior Research Associate at Grandview Children’s Centre. Her work focuses on physical activity and motor development for children with disabilities.

  • Dr. Shabnam Pejhan

    Dr. Shabnam PejhanDr. Shabnam Pejhan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Automotive and Mechatronics Engineering. Her research focuses on initiatives to improve human mobility capacity by advancing active, assistive, and augmentative mobility devices. Her primary goal is to drive innovation in safe and inclusive micro-mobility solutions, empowering active aging.

  • Dr. Mohamad El-Darieby

    Dr. Mohamad El-Darieby is an Associate Professor and of Software Systems Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering at Ontario Tech University, Oshawa, ON, Canada. His research areas include Autonomous Vehicular Mobility, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, BigData with 25+ years of experience in software engineering with multi-million dollar funding from Transport Canada, 407 ETR and Sask Highways, NSERC, CANARIE, OVIN, and ORF.
